Special Events Rental Specifications


We are located in the Park Slope/ Gowanus area in Brooklyn in a brownstone neighborhood. Besides music and art activities we host, our space is also a perfect fit for events such as weddings, birthday celebrations, ceremonies, receptions, corporate events and so forth.

You’re welcome to bring in a caterer to provide food for your event. However, the caterer has to be fully licensed and the food must be prepared at a licensed kitchen. Please note that if you decide to hire a caterer, you must ask the caterer to name ShapeShifter Lab as “additionally insured” on their insurance policy and provide us with a copy.


Furniture rental:

You may use our existing furniture but for any other furniture, please arrange your own rental, transportation, setup and breakdown. We’ll be glad to work with you with the load in and load out schedule.

Decoration and Set up

You may decorate the site with balloons, ribbons, temporary free-standing props, drapery, etc as long as you don’t tamper with any structural part of the building. Any existing artwork on the walls may not be removed unless it is prearranged, and no nailing and putting permanent tape on the walls.

No live candles are permitted within the space.

Floral arrangements must be removed post-event


Cash Bar

The cash bar will be open during all events unless otherwise agreed upon. Open bar rates are upon request.


Clean Up

You’re responsible to remove and dispose of any decorative materials you have brought in and either you or your caterer are responsible for removing all food items, left-over food, boxes and containers from the premises.


There’s street parking outside the premises and parking garages in the vicinity.



For any private events, you must purchase a $1 million public liability insurance and all your vendors have to provide us with their workers comp insurance at least 2 weeks prior to your event. The certificate must show the name of ShapeShifter Lab, address and date of the event.

Booking Procedure

Upon securing the date of the event and signing of the contract, you are required to place a 50% deposit of the total amount. Full payment is due at least 1 month prior to the event. For cancellations, requests must be received at least 90 days in advance for a full refund of the deposit, otherwise the deposit will be forfeited.
