Haitian born but Brooklyn bred an amazingly talented artist thus, enabling Chardavoine to be a refined professional. He’s well known around New York for his association with the late Grammy Award winner Flutist “Dave Valentin” last year he had the privilege of playing at Aretha Franklin’s birthday bash in New York with the Tito Puente Jr orchestra.
His sophomore effort entitled “The Tribute” is dedicated to the Haitian earthquake victims and a trip back to his roots musically. His latest release “Deep Within” is a complete manifestation of Chardavoine’s composing and arranging ability. It is an eloquent testimony of his talents as a songwriter, arranger, and seasoned guitarist beyond a shadow of a doubt.
On January 17th, 2015 The Chardavoine Band opened for the Grammy Award-winning group the “Yellow Jackets” at the Port au Prince Jazz Festival which was a soul awakening experience after forty years of absence from his homeland of Haiti.
Title of the project: Haitian Jazz arrangements of Haitian traditional songs with jazz harmony and Jazz standards played over Haitian roots rhythm all orchestrated and arranged by Jean Chardavoine
