EPIC BAND is a collaboration between electric bassist, Nick Campbell, vocalist Michael Mayo, and saxophonist, Remy Le Boeuf. The group’s members met in Los Angeles and New York and have worked independently on various modern jazz, funk, and pop projects. The band is joined by Andrew Freedman on keys and Diego Joaquin Ramirez on Drums.
Nick Campbell is known for his work as an electric bassit with Pomplamoose, Scary Pockets, Charlie Puth and Moonchild as well as his co-leader work with Shrek Is Love. He currently writes music under the name “Nick Campbell Destroys.”
Michael Mayo is quickly becoming one of the foremost vocalists and vocal improvisers on the scene today. He began forging his musical identity long before he hit the stage. The son of two successful musicians, the Los Angeles native grew up just a little more than 20 feet from the likes of Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Earth Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder. This proximity helped Michael create a musical path centered around the innovative elements of neo-soul, R&B and jazz. Since relocating to New York in 2017 he’s worked with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Kneebody, Gretchen Parlato, Nate Smith, Ben Wendel, Becca Stevens, and Theo Bleckmann among many others.
Remy Le Boeuf is a Grammy-nominated composer and saxophonist whose music has been praised by the New York Times for its “overwhelming beauty.” In addition to his work as leader of the Assembly of Shadows jazz orchestra, Le Boeuf has worked with a range of collaborators including HAIM, Linda Oh, Dayna Stephens, and his identical twin brother Pascal, with whom he co-leads the Grammy-nominated ensemble, Le Boeuf Brothers.
