At 7pm, New-York based violinist and composer Tomoko Omura is celebrating the release of her fourth album Branches, Vol. 2 on Outside In Music. Originally from Shizuoka, Japan, Omura presents compositions inspired by Japanese folk stories and imaginative arrangements of popular Japanese songs. She is joined by Jeff Miles on guitar, Glenn Zaleski on piano, Pablo Menares on bass and Jay Sawyer on drums.
At 8:30pm, Brooklyn based vocalist and composer Tammy Scheffer presents a new set of compositions for her longtime sextet. Belgium born, Israeli grown Scheffer presents an inspired mix of jazz, rock and Middle Eastern music, and her music speaks of the idea of home and belonging, while oscillating between feelings of connection and alienation. Her sextet features Jasper Dutz on alto saxophone, Dan Pratt on tenor saxophone, Glenn Zaleski on piano, Danny Weller on bass and Ronen Itzik on drums.
